Long-term cooperation for a sustainable water supply

Since 2014, HOLINGER has been supporting the water supply in the province of Syrdarya in Uzbekistan. On behalf of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), from 2014 to 2017 the drinking water pumping station of the city of Gulliston with a population of 300,000 was upgraded to state-of-the-art technology. The work included the construction of a new pumping station, the rehabilitation and equipping of 24 existing groundwater wells and the construction of a chlorination plant.

Following the completion of this infrastructure project, HOLINGER will advise the provincial water utility on how to ensure economic and sustainable operation. Topics include operation and maintenance, IT, network infrastructure and reduction of water losses. We are also involved in tariff setting, the development of a business and investment plan and the establishment of a management information system.

Since 2019, HOLINGER has also been implementing the advisory programme in the provinces of Bukhara and Samarkand. Work will also continue in the province of Syrdarya, where a supra-regional process control system (SCADA) is to be set up.
