Jungholz Uster WWTP - milestone reached
06.03.2023
At the beginning of January, the visual leakage test of the two digestion towers was successfully completed together with the client and the AWEL (The Cantonal Department of Waste, Water, Energy and Clean Air of Zurich) technical authority. The test was carried out with service water at a pressure of over 2 bar. No leaks were detected.
The almost 22 metre-high cylinder walls are prestressed by means of 36 tendons. Shortly after completion of each wall section, the cables were already partially prestressed to avoid shrinkage cracks. A noteworthy feature is that the tendons were not arranged in a pilaster strip, as is usually the case, but in niches within the wall. The impermeability is largely due to the pretensioning and the use of coated metal waterstops.
